On September 4th, 2018, Laura and I headed out to tackle the Monitor Ridge trail on Mount St. Helens south side. The trail leads up to the summit ridge which can been seen in more details in the video above.
To do this hike, we had to purchase a permit from the Mount St. Helens Institute website. I would like to point out that these permits get released once a year and sell out very quickly! If you are going to try and hike the trail you will need to plan ahead.
After the hike, we chose to camp at the Climbers Bivouac. The bivouac is a base camp persay at the start of the trail. Our bodies were quite fatigued after the hike so it felt like the right decision. More details on the Climbers Bivouac can be found at the USDA Gifford Pinchot National Forest page. There are two drop toilets with toilet paper at the bivouac but there in no running water so make sure you bring enough if you choose to camp.
I hope you enjoy the video summery of our hike. If you like the video give it a thumbs up and consider subscribing to my YouTube channel. Feel free to leave any comments or questions below or on the YouTube.
