Intro to Meditation

by Ben Geldreich

Location: Semperviva Yoga Kits Beach Studio

When: November 17th 2019 from 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM

Cost: Free for members [$45 for non members]

In this hour and a half workshop we will dive a little deeper into the practice of meditation. We will answer some common questions on meditation, such as what are we doing? And why we are doing it? We will also look at meditation techniques, ways to approach the physical side of sitting in stillness, and discuss the many benefits of a meditation practice.

Benefits of meditation include:

  • Reduced stress and anxiety
  • Better sleep and deeper rest
  • More patience
  • Improved focus and productivity
  • Increased compassion
  • Heightened body awareness

As part of this workshop, we will also spend some time looking at the breath and helpful breathing techniques. These techniques can be done anywhere and at any time, helping to support meditation as an easy and effective daily habit.

My hope is that you can walk away with a better understanding of what meditation is, how meditation may help you, and where you can start to incorporate this practice into your life.

If you’re new or seasoned to meditation, this workshop will be accessible to you. Comfortable clothes are recommended but not a necessity. I suggest bringing a hooded sweater or toque as sitting in stillness for longer periods of time can lower the body temperature.
