Every time I sleep in a new bed, I have a restless night. I wake up every few hours in a daze wondering where I am. The longer I stay the better it gets, but that first night is always a doozy.
Last week I went home to my parents place. They have a beautiful property on the water in Qualicum Bay, BC. Of course, that first night, I didn’t sleep well. When I woke up at 5am the sun was a few minutes away from poking her bright head over the horizon. I hopped out of bed, set up my camera, made a cup of coffee, got my book and took in the mornings offering.
That night as I journaled about the day, I decided that I would commit to capturing the sunrise any morning during my stay when and if I was up to do it. As in, I wouldn’t be setting my alarm to get up, this would have to be a natural process.
I ended up capturing eight sunrises during my nine day stay. Not too shabby! I hope you enjoy the videos as much as I enjoyed witnessing the morning light in real time.
Watching these time lapses reminded me that though things may appear to be still, they are in fact moving. If we slow ourselves down enough, we have the ability to see and feel all that moves around us.
