Fostering connections is a big apart of the human experience. Connection, communication and community are three words that start with the letter C. The letter C, happens to be a grade I got often while in high school. More importantly, those three C words surface when I think about yoga and its impact on my life. Setting boundaries is an important step on the pat

Setting boundaries is an important step on the path towards loving and respecting oneself. As a contractor, I have opportunities to work everyday of the week and as appealing as that sounds, it is an easy trap to fall into and one which I have tumbled down many a times in my life. Don't get me wrong, I love what I do and am very grateful for the opportunity to do it. I recognized early on that when I give too much of myself away, I have nothing to offer anyone else. I’m not only depriving myself but those who come to me for their support. I made a commitment to myself last summer that Saturdays are for me and for those people who really impact my life. It's a day for exploration and an overall recharge of my internal batteries. This past Saturday took me to Point Roberts and a park that I frequently visited as a youth. It was nostalgic and inspiring to see the things that have changed over the years and the things that remain the same. This experience helped me to embrace the changes I've made and allowed for a moment to look deep at aspects of my life I haven't changed. Peering over the edge of a cliff to get a better glimpse of some nesting eagles led me to this beautiful spot. The sun worked her magic which inspired me to let go a little more and sit with the truth of my surroundings. Thank you Mother Nature and Saturdays for your constant inspiring and truth bombing lessons! Keep’em coming!

I can sometimes fall into that trap of trying to control certain aspects of life. I recognize that the need for control may come from the fear of missing out. Missing out on some idea or attachment I've created towards a part of life that I hope to experience.
When I'm not in nature I catch myself all the time attempting to control these experiences. Every time I wander outside, this control fades away and my heart, instincts and gut take over. Maybe that's why I seem to discover magical places at magical times. Or, maybe it's always magical and I've surrender some level of control to actually see that which is always there. Whatever it is ... I'm truly grateful for the opportunities to let go and simply be with that which is around me.

When discussing my past travels recently, I was asked where I would like to go next. Without skipping a beat, I said anywhere that I haven't been! I'm sure it pretty obvious by now that I like to explore this beautiful planet and all that she has to offer. Yesterday's adventure lead me to South Delta where 100's of Bald Eagles have gathered. After an hour of walking amongst the eagles, ... literally walking amongst them, ... an impulse to travel further down a snow filled backroad prodded at me. Following said impulse lead me to this untouched farmers field.
