Hawaii, the big island

In the video above Laura and I explore the big island of Hawaii. We had 10 days to explore and spent most of our time driving around the island, stopping to swim, snorkel, hike and relax, when ever we had the chance. It’s a beautiful island and, in my opinion, has less tourist than Maui. […]

Mount St. Helens

On September 4th, 2018, Laura and I headed out to tackle the Monitor Ridge trail on Mount St. Helens south side. The trail leads up to the summit ridge which can been seen in more details in the video above. To do this hike, we had to purchase a permit from the Mount St. Helens […]

Boundaries

Setting boundaries is an important step on the path towards loving and respecting oneself. As a contractor, I have opportunities to work everyday of the week and as appealing as that sounds, it is an easy trap to fall into and one which I have tumbled down many a times in my life. Don’t get […]

let go

We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us. ~Joseph Campbell   I can sometimes fall into that trap of trying to control certain aspects of life. I recognize that the need for control may come from the fear of missing out. […]

Lost

When discussing my past travels recently, I was asked where I would like to go next. Without skipping a beat, I said anywhere that I haven’t been! I’m sure it pretty obvious by now that I like to explore this beautiful planet and all that she has to offer. Yesterday’s adventure lead me to South […]

Gone

When I was around 2 years old my parents got the message loud and clear that I’m a curious soul. The story goes as follows … one moment my brother and I were playing in the snow and the next moment … I was gone. My parents, obviously a little worried, grilled my brother to […]

Conversations with J

I wrote a post on forgiveness a few weeks back.  After it was published I shared it via social media.  Like always I received a few comments, one which caught my eye and heart.  Below is a copy of the inspiring conversation I had with Jarrod. J:  Pretty amazing dude.  I too hope one day soon […]

Waking up

I’m not sure if this happens to you, but every time I sleep somewhere other than my bed, I have a restless night. I wake up every few hours in a daze wondering where I am. The longer I stay the better it gets, but that first night is always a doozy.

Last week I went home to my parents place in Qualicum Bay, BC. So of course, I didn’t sleep all that well that first night. When I woke up at 5am the sun was a few minutes away from poking her bright head over the horizon. I decided to get up, set my camera up, make myself a cup of coffee, get my book and take in the mornings offering. […]

Lovely Day

Throw back to last weeks road trip to Jasper! I’m still smiling and full of gratitude for that opportunity! It was such a treat to spend time with @kerriann.cardinal & your entire family! We laughed, played, sang, danced, laughed more and explored as much of Jasper as we could. Did I mention that we laughed?! […]

Forgiveness

I love this photo!  I love the moment it represents.  I also love it’s perfect reminder of how life ought to be lived! I learned a valuable lesson in India, one that was reminded to me again this past week. Everything in my life had to happen exactly as it did, to lead me to […]

Witness

It’s early … I’m sitting on a log, sipping some coffee and witnessing the clouds dance through the Rocky Mountains. The sun pokes her beautiful glowing head through the clouds and Im left a little breathless. Man alive, we live on such a beautiful planet! It’s a shame to not be able to witness her […]

Farewell …

Riding my steed to yoga yesterday, I found myself blissing out, as I typically do on my bike. Cycling down a beautiful street through a tree tunnel, you know what I mean, I lifted my hands off the handle bar to take in that special freedom feeling. Well … something didn’t feel right!  An […]

Wandering

If I took anything away from the past five days it would be, that everything I seek, every answer to questions I have, already lives inside me. I know more than I give myself credit for and I’m exactly where I need to be at this moment in time. I had a quieter festival than […]

Noise

I was asked in an interview a few months back why I practise yoga. If I could go back in time, I would quote some lyrics by Patrick Watson.   Puts on a smile and breathes it in and breathes it out, he says, bye bye bye to all of the noise. Oh, he says, […]

Overview

There is a phenomena know as the overview effect. It typically happens to astronauts when they look back at the Planet Earth. There is a cognitive shift in awareness when you see things from a far. In the case above, borders, boundaries, countries, politics, race, creed, etc, all become meaningless. How can there be boundaries […]

A man

I love this photo!  I look at it and see more than just a man on a bike with a lake in the background.  I see a man, alone, balancing.  A man on a bike witnessing a wild greater than himself; The large lake, the big blue sky, the never ending mountainous landscape, the tall evergreen trees and […]

Adict

I’m an outdoorsy kinda guy! Love over packing my golden backpack full of just incase “Boy Scout” things, hopping on my steed and riding wherever my impulses guide me. Some days I end up a few blocks from home, while others I end up further than I ever imagined. Behind all of it, a desire […]

The Fence

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about decisions and my role in making them. I think I used to be a guy who would sit on the fence for a while before making a choice.  Today, I feel more comfortable with taking action and sitting with the results. An artist friend of mine once said,   There […]

Beliefs

I love exploring!! Always have and probably always will!! I’m curious kinda cat, if you know what I mean. When I come across a beach with rocks, like in the image above, I can’t help but turn over a few rocks to see all the life that lies underneath. Staring at all the little critters, […]

Challenge Junky

Hello Friends! I don’t believe in setting New Year resolutions. More accurately, I don’t like using the word resolutions I do believe in challenges, change and growth. Challenges bring change and change bears growth. In my opinion, resolutions, the word that is, lacks commitment. Where’s the risk in setting something that you’d kinda like to sorta do. […]

Stop. Go back. Begin Again.

One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned stems a decade back to my time in theatre school. While studying theatre arts in college, I learned the lesson of stopping, going back and beginning again. Now, I’ll be the first to admit that like most lessons in life, it’s true potential didn’t really sink in until years […]

Letting Go

In the end, enjoying life’s experiences is the only rational thing to do. You’re sitting on a planet spinning around in the middle of absolutely nowhere. Go ahead, take a look at reality. You’re floating in empty space in a universe that goes on forever. If you have to be here, at least be happy […]
